ITK was started by Doug Eng in 2008 as a refuge for all things food related. After 20 years in corporate Human Resources, Doug felt the need to return back to the west coast from New Jersey and found a great space in Sausalito for a cooking school. After losing the lease in ITK has relocated to Emeryville in the kitchen once occupied by Terry Paulding of Pauling and Co.
His experience started at 7 years old when he was summoned to help in the family business which made “char sui bao” for customers throughout the Bay Area. This evolved into a Chinese/American restaurant in San Francisco’s Mission district. He then became the “Donut King” at age 13 when the owner of the shop asked him to join the crew. Soon, The Donut Corner was making donut for businesses throughout the East Bay as well as their retail location. His journey continued through college at The Rusty Pelican that specialized in fresh seafood.
Throughout his global travels, Doug has experienced the cuisine on various continents and relishes new culinary experiences.
